I mean we all know that the last King and Queen of Laos were ousted - but what became of their children? Are there any surviving children?

The last King and Queen were in fact ousted from their reign. The entire royal family were left to fend for themselves in the mountains of Laos. Most starved to death including their children. Many Hmong (thousands) would have died but sought refuge in Thailand. Those Hmong that stayed, especially the ones who fought for the US, are still being hunted by the Pathet Lao. What a tragedy for sure. I hoped this helps answer your question.

Thanks Leoden, it seems that the public did not view the last king and queen in very high regard, because people felt that the monarchy were not doing anything significant to benefit the country - instead taking much more than they were giving. It also seems that there was a great mistrust with Lao royalty considering what seemed to happen in the past with royalty giving up land to the Thai due to fears that they would die if they didn't. That also seemed like a great cowardly act.
If these things are true, a change like the Pathet Lao was bound to happen. But now it seems that many Lao people feel a disconnect to the monarchy of their past, but it seems to me that they just seem to romanticize it more than anything. Pretty interesting country and history!
