From the news item:

http://www.monstersandcritics.com/news/uk/news/article_1477095.php/Laos_will_not_execute_pregnant_British_woman_

Quote:

" 'Our constitution prohibits death penalty for any pregnant person,' Deputy Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith told The Nation online news service. "

Hmm - well, isn't she not going to be pregnant in a few more months? Is there some sort of window of time rule to this death penalty thing?!?

Sounds like Laos made a decision to not make this a big media ruckus. Tourism and foreign investment always need all the help they can get I guess!

According to recent news, she's been sentenced to life in prison. She will be transferred most likely to a British prison. See http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2009/06/03/Pregnant-Brit-sentenced-to-life-in-Laos/UPI-17091244029259/.

Funny - the news article doesn't state how she got pregnant. Such an unbiased news source :P:

"Orobator is more than five months pregnant. The circumstances about how she became pregnant while in prison were unclear, CNN said. She was not pregnant when she was arrested, media reports indicated."
