  • When walking past someone older than you are or walking in front of someone who is sitting down, you should stoop a little as it is a sign of respect.
  • A Lao traditional belief is that feet are the lowest part of the body spiritually. Avoid pointing your feet at people or things for example, when you are trying show your friend something at a distance from you, you might normally point with your finger at an object that you are referring to. This type of pointing is what should be avoided with your feet.
  • Another Lao traditional belief is that the head is the highest part of the body. Avoid touching Lao people on the head, especially older people as they tend to value this tradition more.
